COVID-19: Health & Safety Protocols

As Alberta carefully progresses through Phase 2 of the Relaunch Strategy, the health and safety of our passengers, customers, and employees remains our top priority.

You can expect the same exemplary customer service as years prior, with the added comfort of our enhanced cleaning and safety program initiatives:

    • Face masks will be mandatory for all passengers, with single-use non-medical masks available for purchase for those who don’t have their own
    • Bathrooms onboard the buses will be closed
    • Physical distancing guidelines will be in place during the entire rider experience, from check-in to disembarkment
    • Hand sanitizer avalible on all buses for passenger and staff use

Passenger Screening and Due Diligence

Passengers are reminded that they should not consider travelling if they are feeling unwell or are displaying symptoms of COVID-19.
For the safety and well-being of our passengers and staff, all passengers will be asked health and safety screening questions prior to boarding.
Should a passenger fail to pass the screening, they will be denied boarding. Passengers who develop symptoms while in Banff or Canmore are expected to contact Alberta Health Link by calling 811, as well as arrange for their own transport back to Calgary.

Check-in, Boarding & Disembarking:

  1. Riders will be asked to have tickets ready and extended out for quick scan and reduced touchpoints
  2. All passengers will be required to wear face masks
  3. Drivers will be wearing face masks while interacting with passengers
  4. Drivers will wear gloves for the safe handling of luggage
  5. Customers will be asked to maintain proper physical distancing while waiting for luggage to be loaded and during boarding
  6. Drivers will continue to load and unload luggage to reduce the amount of touchpoints and to safely store items in luggage bins during travel
    • With the exception of loading and unloading of bicycles, as this remains the riders responsibility.

Onboard:

  1. We will be blocking seats to increase the distance between passengers
  2. Passengers will be required to wear face masks at all times while onboard
  3. Coaches will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized daily
  4. High touchpoints will be sanitized prior to each trip:
    • Hand railings
    • Seatbelt buckles and seat controls
    • Armrests
    • Overhead bin handles
    • Seatbacks, outlets, and cupholders

Seat Blocking Map

On-It buses are able to seat 52 people; however, we’ll be blocking alternating seats and only allowing 25 people on board. We will allow only 2 people per row and will alternate aisle and window seats for extra distance between riders.
